There has been genuine progress in women's financial position in the UK over recent decades. Women are earning more, owning more assets and playing a greater role in financial decision‑making than previous generations. Wealth is increasingly passing into women's hands through work, inheritance, business ownership and, in many cases, divorce. At the same time, some long‑standing imbalances remain.
