Advisers need to not just make the case for annuities, but also for taking the time to shop around and secure the best possible product, writes Ahmed Bawa

Annuities are not quite the central plank of retirement planning that they once were. But there is a danger that preoccupation with rates may be causing some pension savers to overlook the products, leaving them to suffer a more stressful time once they give up work. This case is made by research from Legal & General, conducted with the Happiness Research Institute, which dug into the lives and financial health of thousands of retirees in the UK.
