It was pleasing to see sensible appointments being made to DWP last week, with Emma Reynolds as pensions minister in addition to Sir Stephen Timms's return to the department. The latter in particular suggests we could see shifts in the way people receive help with their pension decisions. Timms' past comments on pension freedoms and guidance reflect a critical view of how we help people under the current system, advocating for more robust interventions.
