Canapés, or a lack of them, was the main topic of conversation at Mainland PR's summer party on Wednesday.
PR parties are meant to be an opportunity for journalists, PRs and industry figures to network and discuss some of the hot topics of the moment. But every conversation I had at the Mainland party seemed to be dominated by canapés. Even if I got into a conversation about something vaguely related to personal finance it would be interrupted by someone shouting, “Canapés two o’clock – grab the waitress!” I know journalists are generally out to get all the freebies they can, but it can’t be giving us a good name to moan about how starving we are or how cold/hard to eat/small/unrecognis...
