I've recently had the fortune, though some may say misfortune, to be involved in several conversations and debates, some a little heated, about the number and validity of various award ceremonies in the protection industry.

It's a bit of a hot topic right now. In fact, if there was an award this week for 'Most common chat down the pub' amongst the IFAs and life office comrades I know well this wins hands down. One man's predictable winner is another's shocking scandal, but the one thing about industry awards that is constant, speaking as someone who has both hosted and picked up a few over the years, is that by default they frustrate the majority of their audience as 'there can be only one winner'.
