John Milne’s bill passes for second reading in 2027 under Ten Minute Rule

Liberal Democrat MP John Milne has sought to introduce a Child Savings Accounts (Mental Capacity and Disability) Bill under the Ten Minute Rule.

Presenting the Bill yesterday (30 June), it is designed to make provision for access to matured child savings accounts held in the name of a young person who lacks capacity and require the secretary of state to review savings provision for young people with disabilities. ‘Heads you lose, tails you lose' According to Milne, there are an estimated 80,000 young people with disabilities who are already facing or will face this barrier regarding  child savings accounts.
