Rachel Blake appointed City minister while Lucy Rigby takes senior role

Mini reshuffle following health secretary Wes Streeting resignation

Number 10 has appointed Rachel Blake as the economic secretary to the Treasury in a mini reshuffle instigated by the resignation of former health secretary Wes Streeting.

Blake will take over as City minister after Lucy Rigby replaced James Murray as chief secretary to the Treasury. Murray has replaced Streeting as secretary of state for health and social care.  Former deputy mayor of Tower Hamlets, Blake was part of Labour's 2024 Westminster intake, when she won the seat of Cities of London and Westminster from the Conservatives.  Early in her career, she worked as a policy adviser to the Treasury under then-chancellor Gordon Brown.  The mini reshuffle comes as Prime Minister Keir Starmer's grip on power remains under threat amid rumours that Wes S...
