Budget 25: Income tax thresholds freeze extended – OBR report

The personal income tax threshold will be extended until 2030-31, in a move that is expected to raise £8.3bn by the end of the forecast period, according to a leaked OBR report.

The freeze extension is expected to be announced in today's Budget by chancellor Rachel Reeves. It is expected to bring more people into higher tax bands as wages rise. The income tax personal allowance, the higher rate threshold and additional rate threshold are frozen at £12,570, £50,270 and £125,140, respectively, until 2030-31. Labour had made a manifesto pledge – that it would not increase income tax.
