Quashed 'family farm tax' rumours branded 'cruel'

Reports had suggested government was mulling IHT relief tweaks

Media speculation around agricultural property relief (APR) and business property relief (BPR) changes has been branded “cruel”.

Farming minister Angela Eagle last Friday quashed rumours that the government was rethinking its plans to revise planned APR and BPR changes. Reports will have ignited relief for some farmers, but this will have been short lived, Evelyn Partners financial planner and partner Luke Lodge, who has a farming background, told PA. "It's a bit cruel really, because somebody has released this information somewhere to see how it sticks," Lodge said.
