Chancellor Rachel Reeves has a “huge opportunity” to reform taxes in the Labour government’s Autumn Budget, tax experts have shared with the Treasury.

Speaking in the first of the Treasury Select Committee's (TSC) evidence sessions looking at some of the biggest issues facing the chancellor ahead of her 2025 Budget, a panel of tax specialists unpacked the tax options available to the chancellor, including their potential impacts on behaviour and the amount of revenue they might raise.  Institute for Fiscal Studies director Helen Miller noted that Reeves faces a couple of big judgements when it comes to potential tax rises and changes.
