Government to respond to petition as it hits 10,000 signatures

The petition to stop pensions from being included in inheritance tax (IHT) has reached more than 10,000 signatures in just under a month.

It was set up by SeaBridge SSAS director Nathan Bridgeman early last month and is currently at 10,537 signatures. "We think the government need people to take responsibility for providing income in retirement and the simplest and most effective way for the majority to achieve this is a pension," Bridgeman said. "We think the tax on pensions funds & death benefits is a disincentive for most people to funding a pension.
