PA360: Diversification essential for navigating recessionary conditions

LGIM currently places only a 20% probability of a soft landing

Diversification should “become your best friend” in a recessionary environment, Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has stated.

Speaking at PA360 yesterday (26 April), fund manager Andrzej Pioch emphasised that "the one thing that we believe can work in this environment is diversification", The manager highlighted that "we had just witnessed a year where both equities and bonds were down" in 2022, which "you would have to look back 50 years to find one or two years like that". Pioch explained that at the end of 2022, most recession indicators were giving negative signs, and are expected to remain so in 2023.
