FOS complaints show 65% uphold rate on DB transfer cases

General uphold rate of more than one third on personal pensions cases

Almost two thirds (65%) of Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) cases relating to defined benefit transfers between October and December last year were upheld in consumers’ favour, new data reveals.

Quarterly FOS complaints data for Q3 2022 - released today (15 February) - showed that there were 775 new complaint cases related to personal pensions in Q3 last year. A total 236 of those were referred for an ombudsman decision. According to the figures, the majority (65%) of the 78 DB transfer to self-invested personal pension complaints the FOS received were ultimately upheld in the consumers' favour.
