Focusing on personal improvement and development is key for advisers and planners to improve outcomes for their clients and businesses, according to Smart Financial.

Speaking today (6 October) at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment's Financial Planning Conference 2022, Smart Financial chief executive Steve Martin debated the idea of what constitutes a ‘good' planner and where their attention should be focused. "If we are going to change we need to start with ourselves," he said. "There is no point spending a fortune on marketing or business consultancy if we have not done the hard yards ourselves."
