Advisers risk losing out on future clients as the lure of crypto investment gathers pace among younger generations and must “beware” of the phenomenon, delegates heard at PA360 North.

Gillian Hepburn, intermediary solutions director at Schroders, described crypto and Bitcoin investment as the "big bad wolf" that was intent on eating advisers' dinner. Speaking about advising the next generation of clients, she said advisers who are not engaging with younger clients are putting their future business at risk. Hepburn said one in five advisers do not think it is a challenge that younger people are investing differently and investing in crypto but 2.3 million UK consumers also now hold crypto-assets and 74% of users are aged 25 to 44.
