The presence of online scams have increased in more recent years, most recently as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Action Fraud received more than 1,000 more reports relating to romance scams in 2020 than it did in 2019, Professional Adviser can reveal.

According to information requested by PA, Action Fraud received 6,758 reports of romance fraud in 2020. Victims reported losing £68,204,667 during this time. In 2019, Action Fraud received 5,730...
