The Share Foundation launches Child Trust Fund programme

The Share Foundation, a charity that runs the Child Trust Fund (CTF) and Junior ISA schemes for young people in care in the UK on behalf of the Department for Education, has launched a campaign to raise general awareness of the CTF.

CTFs were put in place for all children born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011, provided they were living in the UK and not subject to immigration controls Some six million accounts have been created, which between them are worth more than £9bn, but the charity has estimated more than one million of the accounts are lost to the young account holder. On top of this, the charity said, more than two million account owners have "little awareness" of the money to which they are entitled.
