The proposed ban on pensions cold calling is "nothing of the sort" and "just another meaningless tweak to a failed regime", according to the Fair Telecoms Campaign.

Campaigner David Hickson suggested the proposals, which were announced yesterday, would be ineffective because they used the same regime that seeks to ban unsolicited direct marketing calls and thus would only benefit the 20% of households not registered with the Telephone Preference Service, the official opt-out register on which people can record their preferences not to receive unsolicited calls.
