MAS welcomes Hector Sants as financial guidance body chair

The Money Advice Service (MAS) has welcomed the appointment of former FSA boss Hector Sants as chair of the single financial guidance and claims body, ahead of it own absorption into the new organisation.

Sants' appointment became known on Thursday after he was listed as chair of the body on the Cabinet Office website. He was chief executive of the Financial Services Authority - the predecessor of the Financial Conduct Authority - between 2007 and 2012. The incoming single finance guidance and claims body (SFGB) will merge the MAS, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise together. It is set to be up and running by the end of this year, pensions and financial inclusion minister Guy Opperman has said.
