A paraplanner role paying £70,000 a year in a "leading" City financial planning consultancy has had no applications, highlighting an industry shortage of suitable candidates in the field, a recruiter has said.

The position has been vacant for several months, according to Heat Recruitment. This comes despite the fact the salary offered had been increased by £20,000 from the industry average of £50,000. The firm has partnered with financial services providers for more than 12 years but said this has been the most challenging role to fill in that time.
