Former James Hay director of commercial and strategy Chris Smeaton has been appointed as group head of digital marketing at Embark, as part of a wave of senior executive hires.

In his 17 years at James Hay, Smeaton was part of the executive team managing the platform's marketing activities before leading its commercial and strategic development. He was previously Santander Private Banking head of platform but also worked in marketing proposition and ecommerce. Smeaton will work out of Embark's Salisbury office.  Abbie Knight joined as group head of digital marketing but will retain her role as Discretionary Investment Services Coming Under Scrutiny (DISCUS) director, Embark's discretionary investment research arm.
