TPR's Charles Counsell appointed new CEO of MAS

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) executive director Charles Counsell will become the new chief executive of the Money Advice Service (MAS) after Caroline Rookes' departure in June this year.

The appointment was made by the Financial Conduct Authority and has been approved by HM Treasury. He will join the MAS board in June 2017 and take over from Caroline Rookes as CEO that same month on a contract of up to two years, while the service is being turned into the government's new consumer guidance body. Counsell (pictured) is currently executive director and board member at TPR, where he played a key role in the introduction of automatic enrolment into workplace pensions.
