HMRC ditches cheques for online tax refunds

People can now expect their tax refunds to be paid into their account within three to five working days thanks to a the introduction of a new system by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Rather than going to the bank or waiting weeks to receive a cheque, Personal Tax Account users will be able to have overpaid tax returned directly to their bank account from HMRC. The Personal Tax Account allows customers to see how their tax is calculated, check their expected level of their state pension, update personal details, see tax credits payments and has other useful features.
