FCA warns of competition investigations in show of power

Regulator to act on competition failures

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is to open up investigations related to competition failures by financial services firms, its director of competition has said.

Deb Jones told delegates at the The Impact of Competition Powers on Financial Services conference in London on 23 March the regulator is ready to use its enforcement powers and has started proceedings in some cases. She said: "For the last year, we have been talking about enforcement cases in the future tense. Very recently, that has changed and I can now confirm that we are taking active steps towards the opening of Competition Act investigation.
