Former Chancellor Darling joins Morgan Stanley board

Former Chancellor Alistair Darling is set to join the board of Morgan Stanley in January.

Darling (pictured) will take up the role at the start of the year and can be expected to earn around $75,000 per annum (£49,960) based on average remuneration for board members in 2014, according to the BBC. Last year, each member of the bank's board received $75,000, plus an additional $250,000 in stock awards and a further $10,000 to $30,000 for leading or joining a committee. Morgan Stanley chief executive James Gorman said Darling brings strong leadership experience to the group.
