APFA hires legal eagle to bolster advisers' regulatory fights

The Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) has hired a policy adviser with a legal background that it said will help fight members' corners with regulatory bodies.

Alex Roberts studied law at Cambridge University and was called to the Bar in 1997. She has specialised in personal injury claims, contractual disputes and professional negligence, and also has appeared at the Court of Appeal, the High Court and county courts. Her experience will be applied to APFA's campaign to change the way the Financial Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is funded, director general Chris Hannant (pictured) said.
