Auto-enrolment failing to alter long-term saving attitudes - Aegon

The number of people who stop paying contributions into auto-enrolment schemes after the opt-out window has increased by more than 50% at schemes run by provider Aegon.

The provider said analysis of trends since 2012 showed a 53% increase in the number of ‘paid up' schemes - where members stop paying in contributions after the one month opt-out period. It said it had so far supported 2,300 employers through the auto-enrolment process. It said members who went through the process of quitting auto-enrolment schemes could be at risk of building up several small pension pots.
