Advisers can discover commission switch-off events with new tool

A tool allowing advisers to discover when providers will switch commission payments off on pre-Retail Distribution Review (RDR) business has been launched.

Consultancy the Financial and Technology Research Centre (F&TRC) has added the ‘commission disturbance matrix' to its free Quality Analyser tool. F&TRC has identified a total of 15 events which could trigger a commission switch-off - such as lump sum top ups and fund switches - and has applied them across five product types, including pensions and onshore bonds. It will inform advisers how providers will treat each event.
