Standard Life reveals further Scottish independence contingency plans

A ‘yes' vote in the Scottish referendum could see Standard Life move its pensions, investment and other long-term savings operations out of the country.

The provider today gave further details on its independence contingency plans ahead of the 18 September vote. It said "in view of the uncertainty around Scotland's constitutional future, we have put in place precautionary measures which would help enable us to provide customers with continuity". The firm had already revealed its plans for new regulated companies in England to which it could transfer parts of its business if there was a "need to do so".
