Recent research by the Pension Policy Institute (PPI) and workplace pension provider Now:Pensions highlights a significant gender disparity in pension outcomes in divorce settlements, an issue which should give family lawyers and financial advisers pause for thought. On average, divorced women hold approximately £400,000 less in pension savings than divorced men, and receive an annual pension income of £13,893 - just above the minimum retirement living standard of £13,400.
