IFA in hiring spree after reporting full-year loss

Fee-based IFA Money Wise is looking to recruit advisers after putting a full-year loss for 2013 down to its "sub-scale" branches.

The company is seeking to hire a "small number of high quality" advisers to achieve the required scale across its offices in Bath, Cambridge, London and Bournemouth. The IFA reported a loss of £71,000 in 2013 against profits of more than £107,000 the previous year. Turnover reduced from £3.8m to £3.5m over the same period. It said funds under management had risen to over £300m, of which about a third is held within its range of model portfolios run by Brompton Asset Management.
