Women twice as likely as men to be in the dark over retirement income

Women are twice as likely as men to be unsure what their main source of income will be in retirement, according to research from Prudential.

The survey of 1,996 over-40s showed 18% of women were in the dark on the source of their retirement income, compared to 9% of men. This follows The Pension Advisory Service's (TPAS) launch of a survey into the specific areas of retirement saving that affect women the most (PP Online, 4 September). Prudential's study also found just 46% of couples over the age of 40 have made arrangements to ensure their partner continues to receive a retirement income in the event that one of them dies.
