Five of the best European equity funds

Charles MacKinnon, chief investment officer at Thurleigh Investment Managers, has named five funds he is backing as he looks to boost exposure to equities in his portfolios.

MacKinnon (pictured) is especially keen on European equity fund and equity income, with a view to raising equity exposure by 1% a month for the next four months. The wealth manager started adding to European equity funds last summer, when valuations in Europe were at record lows. Recently, he also added more equity income funds to the mix in a bid to increase exposure to smaller companies in the UK and US, which have shown particularly good performance at the start of the year.
