FSCS could receive up to 66,700 new claims

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) could receive an upper limit of 66,700 new claims in 2013/14.

The figure, included in the body's plan and budget for 2013, is the "upper limit" of the FSCS' expectations. The most likely figure it expects is 28,052. This compares to FSCS estimates that it completed 44,546 new claims in 2012/13, and received 45,198 new claims. The FSCS expects up to 2,500 new Arch Cru claims in 2013/14, with "most likely" number at 1,200. It has already completed an estimated 1,357 claims related to Arch Cru in 2012/13, and believes new Arch Cru claims for that period hit 1,556.
