LV= reveals annuity gender deadline for "adviser certainty"

LV= has confirmed its deadline for gender specific annuity business so advisers can take action ahead of the EU gender directive.

The cut-off point for a fully signed and completed annuity application, including any required medical information, will be 23:59 on 20 December 2012. Phil Brown, LV= head of retirement propositions said: "Our solution means advisers can get more clients accepted on gender specific rates, before the deadline." From 21 December 2012, under a European Court of Justice ruling, it will be illegal for insurers to underwrite products using gender. All insurance contracts, including annuity quotes will be issued on a unisex basis. Currently men's annuity rates are up to 8% higher than women'...
