Adviser tackling Everest to fund retreat for injured veterans

A Cheshire-based financial adviser is attempting to raise £4.5m to build a ‘sanctuary' for armed services veterans and is set to climb Mount Everest to drive fundraising efforts.

Joe O'Connor, managing director of 3D Financial Management, is aiming to complete the centre by July 2013 and will climb Mount Everest in May as part of his fundraising efforts. The proposed facility will help injured veterans, providing holiday accommodation and support for them and their families. O'Connor said there was a "responsibility" to help men and women who have served their country.
