Pensioners could benefit from local authority plans to freeze council tax in households across England next year.
According to the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy's (CIPFA) council tax survey, 85% of councils are stemming further bill increases. Pensioners are often greatly affected by sudden rises in their outgoings, as their retirement incomes do not rise in line with inflation. Their incomes have also been hit by a combination of QE, poor annuity rates and spiralling drawdown performance.
