BoE's Fisher named ifs School of Finance chair

Dr. Paul Fisher, executive director for markets at the Bank of England, has been appointed chairman of the ifs School of Finance.

Fisher has been the central bank's market guru since March 2009 and is also a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He replaces Bruce Carnegie-Brown, who had been undertaking the role on a temporary basis following the ealry exit of previous chairman Lord James Sassoon. Sassoon had to give up the role to take up his position as commercial secretary to the Treasury.
