Standard Life reassures firms after Focus acquisition

Standard Life has promised to provide support for a wide range of back office systems despite its recent £42m acquisition of Focus Solutions.

The provider purchased the software company in December but says it is committed to providing support for rivals including IntelliFlo and 1st The Exchange. Ross Dunlop, head of e-business at Standard Life: "It is IFAs' own choice what they use. Clearly we want to offer joined-up solutions going forward but we understand an IFA may just choose just Standard Life and not Focus or just Focus and not Standard Life. "We're not there to dictate that. We're here to offer solutions." Dunlop insists Focus Solutions will remain a separate company, maintaining its own brand and management. ...
