Fraudsters claiming to be from the FSCS are cold-calling consumers to tell them they are in line for compensation.
The warning comes amid increasing awareness of the compensation body through high profile cases such as Keydata and cross-media advertising campaigns. "The FSCS has received information some people may have received calls during which consumers are told they may qualify for compensation and are asked for their bank details," the scheme said in an update. "People should not provide any information about their bank accounts or other personal information in response to these calls or emails.
