Treasury committee launches tax policy probe

The Treasury Committee has launched an inquiry into Britain's tax policy to find out how it can be used to encourage economic growth.

The Chancellor has said he wants to reform Britain's tax system in a bid to reduce the burden of red tape on businesses and attract more international investment. In July he set up the Office for Tax Simplification to analyse "potential reform options". This week's consultation follows recent separate reports on tax policy principles from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris and the Institute For Fiscal Studies in London.
