HSBC appoints new insurance CEO

HSBC has appointed a new chief executive officer of insurance for its UK operation.

Simon Wainwright will take on the position having previously been HSBC's chief executive officer for Ireland, a post he held from January 2008. In his former role, Wainwright had responsibility for all the banking giant's businesses in Ireland, managing over 530 people in private and commercial banking, securities services, insurance and institutional services. He succeeds Robert Lang who has moved to become HSBC's managing director of insurance in Hong Kong. The bancassurer serves more than 3.5 million customers in the UK and encompasses both a life and general insurance operation...
