Calls for financial planners to be consumers of their profession as well as practitioners sparked a debate this week.
Writing on IFAonline.co.uk, US-based adviser Michael Kitces said if planners truly believe they add value to clients, "we should put our money where our mouths are" and hire a planner for themselves. He writes: "Most have heard the quip ‘A man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client'. Will there be a day when we say the same thing about financial planners, too?"
