Progress from Royal Liver closed to new business

Progress, the UK protection provider of Royal Liver Assurance, is closed to new business with immediate effect.

Royal Liver says the move is needed to focus on actively managing its capital position. Existing customers with progress protection products will not be affected, and all valid claims will continue to be paid, it says. All IFA commissions payments will continue and any claw-backs will continue to be managed as normal. Progress was set up just six years ago, but in a statement Royal Liver says: "Due to capital constraints, the society is not in a position to continue to invest in the long-term prospects of the progress business."
