ABI steps-up plans for a national protection scheme

The ABI has progressed to the next stage of talks on a national protection scheme, an idea it says is gaining "greater urgency" in the run-up to the General Election.

Industry work groups have been set-up to whittle down proposed ways to ease the administrative burden of life cover on death, make society more "resilient" to risk, and increase consumer engagement with protection. This last group will be spearheaded by Lifesearch's Tom Baigrie, who gained support, but not funding, last year for a Consumer Protection and Insurance Engagement Campaign (CPIEC).
