Sesame fears duplication on IFA 'professionalism' complaints

Client complaints could either be investigated several times or not at all under FSA plans permitting alternative bodies to handle grievances about advisers' ‘professionalism'.

Sesame Bankhall Group says proposals to devolve extra supervisory responsibilities to professional bodies to oversee ethical behaviour could “create complications” for consumers and negate the RDR’s objectives. In last December’s consultation paper on professionalism, the FSA said it preferred an internal FSA model to oversee professional standards rather than the proposed Professional Standards Board (PSB).
