Fugitive HSBC clerk found hanged

A bank clerk who stole £120,000 from elderly customers and who was on the run from police has been found dead alongside her husband.

Bindi Dhanji, 31, fled while awaiting sentencing for the crime, and was found hanged in an apparent suicide pact yesterday morning. Dhanji was facing up to six years in jail, after admitting two counts of theft while she was an employee of HSBC. Her body, along with that of her husband, was found hanging from a footbridge near Staples Corner in London. Dhanji was found to have taken around £60,000 in a series of withdrawals from a customer's account, including for several months after her death.
