Cowdery dismisses Pru life business takeover rumours

Clive Cowdery's Resolution has denied weekend speculation it is in talks with Prudential to acquire the insurance giant's UK life assurance operations.

Prudential this morning confirmed it is in advanced discussions with AIG over its AIA Asian business. The Sunday Telegraph reported the Pru would be looking to offload its UK life assurance operations to Cowdery's group to fund the deal, however Resolution has denied the claim. "Resolution Limited notes the recent press speculation regarding Prudential plc's potential acquisition of AIA and a possible subsequent disposal of its UK life assurance operations to Resolution," the statement reads.
