Skandia tops platform sales chart

Skandia remains the top platform, attracting the highest volume of new sales for the first half of this year, according to the latest data for the platforms market.

Lipper FMI's Fund Sales Report, found Skandia captured £2.74bn in gross sales as well as posting the highest year-on-year increase in sales. H1 figures are up 5% on H1 2008, against a combined fall of 5% across the other platforms. The Skandia platform has £26bn funds under management, representing 40% of the total assets held by the four largest platforms. Skandia says the boost in its sales figures has been driven by the removal of its front end margin on new business via Skandia Investment Solutions.
