Govt 'failing' to prepare Britons for retirement

The Government is not doing enough to help people save for retirement, a survey suggests.

The survey commissioned by investment consultant Hymans Robertson shows that, of more than 2,000 adults interviewed, almost nine out of 10 - 83% - thought the Government could do more to raise awareness of the different ways to save for retirement. Those with household incomes of £150,000 or more are most critical, having been especially hard hit by the recent Budget changes. Seven out of 10 believe they are not saving enough for their retirement, with young people between the ages of 16 and 24 more likely to hold this view (83%) than those aged 55 and above (65%).
